What’s the best way to manage your own busy calendar?
Keep a calendar/schedule and record all events and commitments as you accept them. Be sure not to miss recording anything and get into the habit of checking it regularly.
Check it before making new commitments too so you don’t double book yourself.
Find an app that’s cross-platform, so you can update your schedule at any time via your phone, computer and tablet, and set reminders for yourself so you don’t forget anything.
Make sure the app is visually very easy to interpret, with clear colours, times etc so that a quick glance can let you know where you’re up to.
Some apps have a feature that shows you your schedule each day when your alarm goes off which is useful if you have a busy schedule every day.
If you’re more of a hands-on person, a traditional paper diary could be a great idea.
Keep it small, so you can carry it at all times, and make sure it’s a good quality one that you can enjoy writing and planning in.
Write neatly and clearly so you can interpret it later on and again be sure to check it every day.
You could also try a wall calendar/planner, taped to your office wall, or somewhere where you can see and update it regularly.
